In seiner ursprünglichen Fassung aus dem Jahr 1990 ist die Komposition Annabel Lee ein Werk für Bariton solo und Kammerorchester. In der reduzierten Form, für 10-saitige Gitarre und Sprecher, entstand 2018 eine erste und intimere musikalische Auslegung des berühmten Gedichtes – diese Rohversion wurde bereits am 22.07.2018 bei Gerung-Arts&Music veröffentlicht und für den jetzt vorliegenden Sampler nochmals revidiert.

Erst jetzt, 2019/20 war offenbar die Zeit reif, all die Versuche und Ansätze zu filtern und das ‚kontaminierte‘ Material zu einem einheitlichen Werk zu verarbeiten. Entstanden ist eine delikate Miniatur für Gitarre und Mezzosopran (a‘ = 415 Hz) – ein tränenreicher und stiller Abgesang zum Ende einer tragischen Liebesbeziehung … irgendwo, in einem Königreich am Meer.

Die beiden Releases Annabel Lee, Music after the Poetry of Edgar Allan Poe und Annabel Lee, 2nd Music after the Poetry of Edgar Allan Poe durch das Label Gerung Arts&Music sind also der Versuch einer Dokumentation des komplexen Findungsprozesses einer endgültigen künstlerischen Form.

In its original version from 1990, the composition Annabel Lee is a work for baritone solo and chamber orchestra. In the reduced form, for 10-string guitar and speaker, a more intimate musical interpretation of the famous poem was created in 2018 – this raw version was already published on July 22, 2018 by Gerung-Arts & Music and revised again for the sampler now available.

Finally in 2019, the time was ripe to filter all the attempts and approaches and to process the 'contaminated' material into a single composition. The result is a delicate miniature for guitar and mezzo-soprano (a ’= 415 Hz) - a tearful and quiet song at the end of a tragic love affair ... somewhere, in a kingdom by the sea.

The two releases Annabel Lee, Music after the Poetry of Edgar Allan Poe and Annabel Lee, 2nd Music after the Poetry of Edgar Allan Poe by the Gerung Arts & Music label are an attempt to document the complex process of finding a final artistic form.
