Missa Brevis – Lockdown-Version for lute and guitar. The Missa Brevis for female voices, positive organ, strings, flute and guitar was composed in 2019 and was completed shortly before the start of the pandemic. A performance was out of the question for the foreseeable future, so the idea was to create a "guitar or lute excerpt", initially for personal study. In the 16th century, the lute occupied the same position in chamber music as the piano does today. Numerous lute scores (intavolation and musical notation) were produced for almost all secular and sacred works in use. (cf: Dr Heinz Zirnbauer in: Lieder und Tänze auf die Lauten Schott, ED 3694) The Introit in the original composition was based on Psalm 85, 1 - 3, Mariawalder Messbuch: Lord, incline your ear to me and hear me, save your servant who hopes in you, my God, have mercy on me, O Lord, I call to you all day long.
